Magic's Howard Scores More With Less

Magic center Dwight Howard leads the NBA in rebounding, dunks and free throws attempted, and is near the league lead in field-goal percentage and blocks.

But his case for being a Most Valuable Player award candidate is best made by the game's most underappreciated statistic -- points per shot.

Howard is the NBA's 13th-leading scorer despite making only 12.2 field goal attempts per game, the fewest of any of the NBA's big scorers.
